ABOUT
"I Perform For" is a collection of music, poetry, theatre, and dance displayed by current Arts Academy students. The concert will be broadcast live on ustream, and all proceeds will go to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. The benefit will take place on Saturday, April 4th at 7:30pm EST. You can come back to this website on Saturday to stream the concert live and to donate!
2015 Production Team
Daniel Fender is a senior theatre artist who concentrates his studies in stage management, performance, and directing. Daniel will be pursuing a BFA in Stage Management in the fall. Daniel is grateful to be directing this year's benefit alongside Kathleen. Daniel would like to thank Kathleen for being such a caring and generous friend for the past three years and for her unwavering support even amongst all of his every day insanity.
Kathleen Taylor is a third year senior theatre major. Her favorite roles have included Berthe in Pippin, Van's Sister in Dog Sees God, and a plethora of parts in Mary Zimmerman's The Secret in the Wings. She is excited to add I Perform For to the list of wonderful and challenging projects she will be participating in her final year at the academy. She would like to thank Daniel Fender for leading her through this process and being a constant source of happiness in her life.
Ella May Hunsader is a junior arts academy student majoring in theatre. She was last seen playing Cressida in Troilus & Cressida and will be understudying Constanze and performing as a Citizen in an upcoming production of Amadeus. Stage management credits include ASMIng Into The Woods and Spring Awakening. When she isn't performing, Ella spends her time dancing, running and watching videos of serval cats. She would like to thank Danny and Kathleen for giving her this amazing opportunity.
Kurt is a senior voice major. He has performed in a variety of productions, ranging from Spamalot (Sir Robin) and Beauty and the Beast (Lumiere) with Traverse City West Senior High School to Giacomo Puccini's La Rondine (Pèrichaud) and Gianni Schicchi (Guccio) with the Oberlin Conservatory in Italy just this last summer. He is very excited and honored to be apart of the I Perform For production team and can't wait to watch this benefit come together in the coming months!
Luke D’Alessandro (Technical Director) - is thrilled to contribute to the 2015 Cancer Benefit Concert. Luke is from the beautiful state of Maine but currently lives in Michigan where he studies Theatrical Design. He has worked at The Arundel Barn Playhouse for the past three summers. Luke also joins the Oberlin In Italy technical staff for a second summer as a Prop Master and Scenic Painter. He is dedicating this years concert to his Aunt Loraine and David who have been affected by cancer.
Julie Beth Kleinerman is a senior arts academy student majoring in dance. Her goals include hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and reading Radcliffe Publishing Course's one hundred greatest novels of the twentieth century. She has eighty-seven to go. She is interested in exploring the arts as a vehicle of social change, and is very grateful to have the opportunity to work with like-minded artists in this year's cancer benefit.
Mary Helen Porter is a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in creative writing, theatre, and visual arts. While attending an arts academy, Mary Helen has directed the production, “Sap of Zenith,” a dance, music, and writing based piece. She has performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and is a part of the student committee of Olio, a student run website.
Christina Dougherty is a second year senior studying tuba. She comes from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Upstate New York, and Pretoria, South Africa. She is pursuing a career in Orchestral Tuba performance.
Drake George is extremely excited to be a part of I Perform For. He is honored to be a part of the marketing team, and is ready to put everything he has into making this wonderful performance as great as it can be.
